You May Not Know: St. Columbanus

He was smart, rich, and handsome. He lived the life of a party-boy when he was young. He rebuilt an old church. He founded monasteries, but preferred a secluded lifestyle, living in caves and conversing with animals. Though his story sounds very similar to St. Francis of Assisi, this holy many predates the founder of the Franciscan order by centuries.
